How we work
We check the door and the frame, since many door problems come from a frame that has shifted or an install that was off. We give you a written estimate for the replacement.
On install day we set the door level and plumb, seal it against weather, and make sure it latches and locks the way it should.
- Can you replace a door that sticks or drags?
- Yes. Sticking often comes from a shifted frame, worn hinges, or moisture swelling the door. We find the cause and correct it, and when a replacement is the better answer we set a new door in a sound frame. If the frame is the problem, we address that too.
- What exterior doors do you install?
- We install entry doors, front doors, patio or sliding doors, and storm and screen doors. Exterior doors need proper sealing for weather and security, which we handle as part of the install. Tell us what you need when you call.
- Why does my door leak air or water?
- Worn weatherstripping, a poor original install, or a gap in the frame are common causes. Air leaks raise energy costs and water leaks damage the floor and frame. We seal the door correctly to stop both.
- Can a new exterior door improve energy use?
- Yes. A well sealed, insulated exterior door reduces drafts and helps keep temperatures steadier inside. Proper installation with good weatherstripping is what makes the difference. We install to keep the seal tight.
- Do you install the door I bought?
- Often yes. Tell us the door and the opening when you call so we can confirm the fit. We can also help you choose a door if you have not bought one. We put the plan in your written estimate.
- How long does a door install take?
- A straightforward door swap is usually a short job, while a new opening or frame repair takes longer. We give you a realistic time in the estimate. Weather and frame condition can affect exterior door timing.
- Can you match a replacement to my existing doors?
- For replacements we help you match the style of your other doors and your home exterior. We work with your existing hardware where it makes sense. We tell you upfront if an exact match is not available.
- How much does door work cost?
- It depends on the type of door, the size of the opening, and the condition of the frame. Ask us for a written estimate and we will break down the cost before any work begins.
- Do you fix the frame as well as the door?
- Yes. Many door problems come from the frame, not the door itself. We check both and repair the frame when needed so the replacement lasts. We explain what we find before we start.
